Remembering George McQueen

George McQueen at the Habitat Site with the”tree protector” he constructed with his wife, Bunny in the Fall of 2008.
It is with much sadness that we report the death of our friend George McQueen. Habitat has lost an avid supporter, engineer, advisor and worker.
George was involved with the Sudbury Habitat project through the First Parish Sudbury Landscape Committee.
From the very beginning, he enthusiastically participated in the fund raising Mum Sale for the landscape project. He participated in the site planning and its acceptance by the Board of Appeals. He and his wife, Bunny marked the trees to be cut down, and donated many of the foundation plantings. Probably his most visible and lasting contribution, was laying out and helping to build the brick walkways. A man who always gave great attention to detail, he was amazingly fun to work with because of his quick wit and strong work ethic.
George, who was 85, died on August 8, 2009 after a short illness. A memorial service is planned for September 12, at 11 AM at First Parish Sudbury, 327 Concord Road. In lieu of flowers, you can make a contribution in his honor to: First Parish of Sudbury Landscape Committee which is funding the landscape of the Habitat for Humanity Sudbury Project. Please be sure to note, Landscape Committee, on the check and send it to the church.
