April 29 Build Day
Yep, you guessed it — still more drywall….
Meanwhile, progress has been made installing the heating systems in the basements.

School vacation week provided an opportunity for some younger volunteers to help out with… yes, more drywall!!
Great progress on the interior walls, covering up the insulation.
Plus other tasks such as installing window wells around the basement windows.

A great spring Saturday Build Day.
With just a few sunny build days, a lot of volunteers, and the exterior of the house is now all painted!
Some additional fun tasks today such as pulling the wires for the electrical service through the underground conduit. And check out the photo of what the insulated interior walls now look like (before the drywall goes up).
A few photos from the day are here:

Not a volunteer build day, but time for some interior insulation! Professional contractors blew wet cellulose insulation into the (all still open) walls on the first floor and second floor.
The cellulose goes in wet, completely filling the six inch exterior wall stud bays, then dries out over time, leaving a well insulated wall. This is in addition to the 1″ of rigid foam insulation which was previously installed on the exterior (in between the sheathing and the clapboards. Should be a very well insulated house!
Also, the excavating contractor worked on building the leech field (tank was previously installed last fall), and the electrician put in the conduit for the two underground service feeds from the utility pole to the house.
Some photos of the action here…

More drywall on the ceiling — this time starting on the first floor. Plus starting on a few interior walls.
Also, an interior window space was created in the wall between Meg’s kitchen and living room, stairs were built into the basement from the bulk head on Michelle’s side, some exterior cleanup and preparation for some leach field excavation work next week, and more….

Drywall on the ceiling continues….
A great, large crew of young hands made great progress. Both second floor ceilings are almost finished!
By completing the drywall on the second floor ceilings, the attic will be able to be insulated at the same time as the walls, which are due to be done by a professional contractor some time soon. Insulation will be blown in (wet cellulose?)

Almost the full ceiling completed on Michelle’s side, and a good start on Meg’s side.
